Last year’s British Best All Rounder Jeff Jones (drag2zero)
has added the2012 RTTC-Rudy Project Time Trial Series to his credits. The 41 year-old rounded off this year’s TT Series with victory in the final leg, the Chippenham & District Wheelers promotion at Bishops Canning, Devizes, on Saturday.

With three wins and two second places Jones ran out overall winner with 298 points out of a possible 300 against second placed Scott Walker (MG Décor-Team Carbon Bikes) with 284 points.

Saturday’s 41-mile event saw Jones win with three minutes in hand over Dean Robson (Somerset RC) while third placed Freddie Lewton (Dream Cycling), first Espoir, was 9-12 adrift of Jones’s 1-31-03.

Julia Shaw (drag2zero) snatched overall success by one point from Rebecca Slack  (London Dynamo) thanks to her win at Bishops Canning. Shaw’s time for the 20.5 miles of 48-48 put her 5-18 clear of runner-up Natasha Morrison (RLS CC)

Slack, however, did take the Veteran Women’s competition on countback with both riders finishing on 299 points.

While the overall result in the Veterans TT Series was already cut and dried with Julian Ramsbottom (Scunthorpe Polytechnic) scoring the maximum 300 points with five wins in five rides it was a different story in the Target Time  competition.
 
 

When current leader John Woodburn (VC Meudon) punctured on Saturday the way was open for Geoff Platts (MG Décor-Team Carbon Bikes) to take over to claim the overall spot with 299 points to Woodburn’s 297.

Team Swift’s Steve Berry was fastest of the vets on the day clocking 45-04 for the 20.5 miles ahead of Derek Smetham (Avonlea-Treasure RT), 46-28, and Platts, 46-50.

Like Ramsbottom, Colin Lynch (Macclesfield Wheelers) scored a full house with 300 points to take the Disabilty category. Having ridden six of the eight rounds of the TT Series Jake Coward’s (Chippenham & District Wheelers) regularity earned him overall success in the Junior Series, something for Saturday’s promoting club to celebrate.

The team award on the day was won by the promoting Chippenham & District Wheelers Jake Coward & Lewis Revill together  Owen Burgess.

The overall team award was secured by the MG Decor Team Carbon Bikes trio of Scott Walker, Geoff Platts and Graham Green.
