Wouter On The Road Again

Well, here we go again another season kicks off with this weekend’s SouthDowns Bikes sporting time trials in Sussex on Saturday and Sunday where Wouter Sybrandy (Sigma Sport) will be out to repeat his 2011 successes.

Last February Sybandy took the honours in both the 18 and 34 kilometre events with course and event records of 24-31 and 47-16 respectively.

Sybrandy finished 2011 on a time trialling high winning the last two rounds of the RTTC-Rudy Project TT Series and is out to continue that winning streak.

Both of this weekend’s events have attracted 46 riders who will be chasing after a share of the impressive £1,500 available in prizes.

Among those hoping to challenge Sybrandy are Douglas Dewey (Team Tor 2000), the National Espoirs time trial champion, Chris McNamara (Pedal Heaven RT), second to Sybrandy in the 2011 18-kilometre event, Peter Tadros (In Gear-Quickvit-Trainsharp) and Dave Dent (Wightlink-Offshore RT).

The shorter event takes place on Saturday afternoon followed by the 34-kilometres on Sunday morning. Storrington Village Hall is the event headquarters for both events with the courses taking in the picturesque countryside around Amberley and Arundel.

Current weather conditions will encourage the use of leg and arm warmers although temperatures are expected to be above freezing!
